SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY...7-8-2012

Sunday again and time for the Photo Scavenger Hunt...This week was busy, busy, busy and I struggled with finding my photos.  I'm not very happy with what I came up with, but here they are...

1.  Patriotic- I stopped by a very old cemetery on the 4th of July to take this photo.

2.  View from Above - I took this from my deck above the water. In the morning the ducks come in to shore and tucks their heads underwater to find some breakfast.

3.  Mosaic - I just didn't find I photo I was happy with for this prompt...

4.  Something Tiny - I love watering cans, so this is a photo of several of them... including the tiny one.

5.  Vibrant - In our county there is a "Quilt Garden" tour. This is one of the gardens where flowers are planted in the specific pattern of a quilt design. The flowers are quite vibrant.
Since Ashley is on maternity leave with her new baby, this week the Scavenger Hunt will be hosted at Sarah Halstead's blog.

SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY.....7-1-2012

Scavenger Hunt Sunday items: Sunset, Sweet, Hanging Around, Funny Face and Space
This week the "Hunt" is hosted by Sarah Halstead.

Happy 4th of July week!!!  It was a busy week filled with family, friends and fun, too.  Here are my photos for the challenge:

1.  Sunset - I thought I was going to have to dig into the archives for this one, but I got a shot of a beautiful sky with clouds, right after the sunset.

2.  Sweet - We spent a day with friends in Michigan and this was a photo of the "making of fudge". I'm not a fudge person, but it was fun to watch it being made.

3.  Hanging Around - I caught a shot of a little girl "hanging" in a park we walked past.

4.  Funny Face - And my little grandson came for a visit...of course I was able to catch at least one funny face picture.

5.  Space - I love the design created by the "space" between the slats of the Adirondack chairs at the end of our dock.  I decided that the reflection in the water made it even more interesting.

SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY.....6-24-2012

Scavenger Hunt Sunday items: Warped, Concentric Circles, Gear, Glazed and Marble

1. Warped

2. Concentric Circles - We took my father-in-law to the Studebaker Museum for Father's Day and this was a shot of one of the fancy tires on a beautifully restored car.

3. Gear - You have heard of "Stone Ground flour" ... well these gears were used to grind wheat into flour at the old Bonneyville Mill in Bristol, Indiana.

4. Glazed - showing no expression, he seems to have a glazed look in his eyes...

5. Marble- This photo I pulled out of the archives. It is one of the marble statues you will find at the Venetian in Las Vegas. Oh, wait a minute, this guy is real....one of the "Living Statues" who looks like marble.

SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY.....6-17-2012

I was flattered this week to have my themes chosen for the Scavenger Hunt. I thought there were many different directions you could go with these, so I hope the hunt was fun for you and stimulated your imagination. Here is what I came up with...

1.  Meet Me at the Corner - I took a couple shots for this one. I found the first one while driving through the country-side...two yaks, meeting at the corner of the hay bin.  They sure are interesting creatures...
The second shot shows the corner of a roof in a nearby park...the moss caught my eye!

2.  Mother Nature Meets Technology - I probably spent more time on this one, looking for the perfect shot. And actually ended up with several that I think fit the idea.

3.  One Step at a Time

4.  What's Wrong with this Picture? - This item made for a fun search ...I passed an entrance to someone's property where they had taken two trees and turned them upside down so the roots were sticking up in the air and the top of the trees were buried in the ground. Then they put a third tree across the top of the two others, and finished it off with a very large rock on top.
This is a photo I took last summer as I passed a junk/antique shop in South Haven, Michigan. I think the dog was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

5.  Standing Tall - the picturesque windmill and its reflection in the river, taken at Bonneyville Mill in Bristol, Indiana.
Thanks for stopping by...have a good week.

SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY.....6-10-2012

Time for photography fun.....This week's Scavenger Hunt Sunday items: Travel, Silly, Black and White, Spots and Paper

Travel - We drove down to visit our grand-kids this week and came across a young man with an unusual method for traveling by foot. After a little research, I determined that they are called "Jumping Stilts".... a crazy way to travel.

Silly - So many silly moments this week, it was hard to choose....Let's see, going miniature golfing with 2 four year old's, a 10 year old and an almost 16th month old, there were many silly moments to choose from.  This is one of my grandsons making a silly face.

Black and White - We went to watch a T-ball game. This was the black and white team.
We were the blue team, doing exactly what the coach told us...waiting for the grounder.

Spots - Spots on the "T" and..... (Processed with a texture (deardreamer2) from Kim Klassen's collection).

Paper - My twin grandsons looking into their mirror that has a frame made out of newspaper. Their Dad recently built them a bunk bed and their Mom just redecorated their room...it really looks great!!

Beyond Layers ~ {Day 37 ~ Fun with Type}

I am way behind on my "Beyond Layers" course challenges. Here is a photo I created for the Day 37 lesson...using type to create a layer mask. I used a photo I took at Lake Michigan a couple weeks ago.

SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY.....6-3-2012

Welcome to Scavenger Hunt Sunday! The themes this week are: Shine, Fast, Left, Peace and Plain

Shine - Sunrise

Fast

Left - A little kiss on the left cheek...

Peace

Plain - Just a plain old heron I caught taking off from the dock. I wanted to use this photo and this was the only theme I didn't have a picture for...Oh well. I didn't have enough time to get my camera settings just right before he flew away, so it's not as sharp as I would have liked the shot.  I really admire the work of great nature photographers.  It's not necessarily easy to get that great shot of wildlife.
